Wardrobed — Privacy Policy

Wardrobed ("we", "our") is a fashion and virtual try-on app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: name, username, email address, and profile details you provide (such as gender, age, height, weight and body type). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email and profile picture from that provider.
• Face scan photos: see Section 2 — Face data.
• Photos and content you upload: clothing photos, profile pictures, outfits you create, posts, comments and messages.
• Usage data: basic technical information needed to run the app, such as device type, push notification tokens, and which onboarding steps were completed.

2. Face data

Summary: we use your face photos only to create your avatar and your try-on images. We do not use them for face recognition or identification, we never sell them, and we never use them for advertising. They are deleted when you delete your account.

2.1 What face data we collect

During the face scan, the app takes three photos of your face with your phone's front camera (front, left and right). While you scan, on-device face detection (Google ML Kit) checks only the position and angle of your head so the app knows when to take each photo. This check runs entirely on your phone; it does not create a face template, faceprint or any biometric identifier, and nothing from it is stored or sent anywhere.

2.2 How we use face data

Your face photos are used only to generate your personal avatar and the virtual try-on images that show outfits on you. We do not use face data to recognise or identify you, to verify identity, for advertising, for profiling, or to train any AI model.

2.3 Sharing of face data

To create your avatar and try-on images, your face photos are sent over an encrypted connection, through our own secure server, to Google's Gemini AI service, which acts as our service provider and processes them only to generate those images. Under Google's terms for the paid Gemini API, Google does not use this data to train or improve its models; Google may keep it for a limited period solely to detect abuse. We do not share face data with any other third party, we never sell it, and we never show your face photos to other Wardrobed users.

2.4 Where face data is stored

• The front photo is stored in Google Firebase Cloud Storage (Google Cloud), encrypted, in your account's own storage folder. It is never shown to other users in the app. It is kept so the app can restore and refresh your avatar without asking you to scan again.
• The left and right photos are kept only in your phone's memory while the app is open, and are not saved to our servers or to your device's storage.

2.5 How long face data is kept, and deletion

We keep your stored face photo for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account in Profile → Settings → Delete Account, your face photos and the rest of your data are deleted from our servers automatically and immediately. You can also ask us to delete your data by email (see data deletion instructions); we complete email requests within 30 days.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the app's features: your digital closet, outfit builder, avatar and try-on images, social feed and messaging.
• To send notifications you have enabled (likes, follows, messages).
• To keep the community safe: reviewing reports and blocks, and removing content or accounts that break our Terms of Use.
• To understand how the app is used (for example how many people finish sign-up) so we can improve it.

4. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on Google Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) and is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

5. Sharing

• Other users: content you post (outfits, captions, your profile and avatar) is visible to other users according to your privacy settings.
• Service providers: Google Firebase (hosting, database, storage, sign-in, notifications) and Google Gemini AI (avatar and try-on generation). Our team also uses Slack, an internal workspace, to follow sign-ups and new content and to receive moderation reports; it receives your name, username, email, profile details, and generated avatar or outfit images — never your face photos.
• We never share data for advertising.

6. Data retention & deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time inside the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. You can also request deletion by email — see our data deletion instructions.

7. Children

Wardrobed is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
